Driver Education

The Centre provides a Driver Education Program for humanitarian entrants who have been in Australia between six months and five years.

The course includes 35 driving lessons, weekly language-for -driving lessons and language classes for the passing the driving test, as well as 25 Hours of accompanied driving and log book completion, and special assistance with preparing for the “Hazard Perception Test”.

The subsidised cost of the program to the participant is $1100 payable in two instalments of $550.
Money will be refunded for lessons not needed.
The “Language Education for Safe Drivers” sessions will be held on Wednesdays.


Driver Instructor Training

Clients may apply for this Certificate IV in Driver Instructor Training if they have had a driver’s license for a minimum of three years, and if they are from a community speaking one of the following languages: Somali, Burmese, Karen, Chin, Farsi, Dari, Swahili, Kirundi, Arabic and Dinka, or any other African language.

The Certificate IV in Driver Instructor Training is a 10-day intensive course delivered by accredited training providers. It provides the qualification to be a Motor Vehicle Driving Instructor.

The cost of this course is usually $1,350, but if enrolled at the Centre in this subsidised program it will cost only $800.
