Local Parks Multisport Program for Refugee/Humanitarian Entrants aims to provide a stimulating and relevant environment, which will encourage young humanitarian entrants and aged 11 – 18 to participate in organised after-school sport and recreational activities. This program offers opportunities for:
Greater access to and improved participation in sport and recreation activities in the cities of Stirling and Wanneroo;
The development of leadership, coaching and management skills that can be applied in a range of sports;
Increased physical activity;
The building of positive and harmonious relationships with Australian-born youth and adults;
Increased access to local sporting clubs;
Help for local sporting clubs to increase their membership by linking them with youth interested in ongoing participation.

Session times are Tuesday afternoon 4.30pm – 6pm.

Multicultural Sports & Recreation Program for Indigenous Youth (11 – 16 years)

The Indigenous Recreation Program aims to introduce young indigenous people (aged 11 – 16) to a variety of leisure activities available in the Perth Metropolitan area, providing them with the knowledge and skills to access them and to develop friendships and support networks.
A bus service is available for the participants in this program in selected suburbs.

Session times are Thursday afternoons 4pm – 5.30pm.

Eventually, these programs will run across four afternoons (Mondays to Thursdays) in four parks covering four suburbs. The aim of this program is to increase the participation of young CaLD and Indigenous people in sport and active recreation. We aim to do this by running grassroots programs within the local community, engaging clubs and state sporting associations to increase participation and link young people to local clubs through the KidSport Scheme.
